Receiving your wedding stationery is the first glimpse your guests get of your big day. It's the first feel of the weddings theme, dress code and style. That's why it's so important to get this bit right. There are a few things to keep in mind the whole way through planning your stationery and I've broken these down to 5 key points.
1) Get a Pinterest board
Pinterest is the best place in the world for weddings. Fact. Start up a board to get you creative juices flowing and to whittle down what suits you as a couple. The next great thing about Pinterest is you can share your boards with people. Your baker, your caterer, your wedding stationery designer (ahem), anyone. Visually seeing peoples ideas makes it a million times easier for people to create exactly what you want!
2) Get your theme sorted
This can be as simple as knowing your colour scheme! Some people come to me only knowing they want blue, and that's fine! It's a start and that's all that matters. Other people come to me knowing EVERYTHING they want. Either way, you understanding what you are looking for makes it a lot easier for someone like me to make it perfect, and thats's always the end goal.
3) Ask to choose your paper stock
All good wedding stationery designers should offer different paper stocks! Its part of the fun of having a 'custom order', you get to pick the finer details.
4) Ask about extras
On the topic of finer details, ask your stationery designer what other creative ideas they have. For example wax seals, stickers, feathers, there are SO many little things that can be done to make your invites a bit extra! I always try and push stickers for the reverse of the envelopes. It just feels a little more professional when people receive them in the post! Plus they aren't as expensive as you may think (and if you don't ask you won't know)
5) Calligraphy envelopes
The final touch! Not only does this save you time (and hand cramps), they look gorgeous! Nothing looks cuter that a handwritten letter coming through the post!
